ANIBIOME Inc., a company dedicated to advancing industry-academia research in companion animal clinical studies, announced on the 14th the appointment of Dr. Oh Won-seok, Director of Hwanggeum Animal Hospital in Daegu, as its CEO.
The Integrative Veterinary Medicine Research Center at Seoul National University College of Veterinary Medicine established ANIBIOME to drive corporate R&D and product development in the companion animal sector. The center focuses on alternative medicine including gut microbiome, traditional herbal medicine, natural products, and nutrition, with Seoul National University professors Baek Seung-joon, Cho Sung-bum, and Kim Min-soo as key members, alongside Dr. Oh Won-seok serving as an adjunct professor.
ANIBIOME CEO Oh Won-seok has previously served as a veterinary technical advisor for major corporations including Sajo Pet Food and Hill's Pet Nutrition. Leveraging this expertise, the company plans to build an industry-academia R&D platform bridging the business and academic sectors.
ANIBIOME plans to pursue various business initiatives including developing products integrating alternative medicine such as plasma therapy, establishing a companion animal gut microbiome platform with testing services and solutions, researching and developing functional health foods for pets, and providing pet business consulting.
"There is significant research demand from companies interested in the companion animal sector, but universities alone often struggle to respond with the necessary speed," said CEO Oh.
